The Union = Justice

In class the guest speak, Michelle, spoke on the Union and her role in the Union and as a library staff member.

As an ardent believer is Socialism and Democracy (The two are intrinsic to one another), I support unions.

The following are a few benefits of a union:
Protection
Benefits
Contracts
Working conditions
Training
Someone to speak on one's behalf
Union representation

When developing contracts there are some important points to remember:
Take to membership
Review grievance files
Read company and employee news
Look to improve or maintain
Have a bargaining team
Pattern bargaining
Money is the last thing talked about

Points that managers should keep in mind:
Understand what your people do
Contracts give structure

An important contemporary issues according to the union:
National healthcare plan

An interesting contemporary managerial theory:
ROW- Results Only Work Environment

The overarching distinguishing feature of the union:
***Fight for justice***
